Parish Pastoral Council

Notes from the Meeting of Saint Anne’s Parish Pastoral Council held on 3 September 2019

After opening prayer and scripture reading, the minutes of the previous meeting on June 18th were approved.  Organisers of the Food Bank have written to express their appreciation for the food donations received.  The letter can be read in full on the website and will be distributed at the weekend masses.  The invitation to the Faith and Life Convention Invitation was discussed and those who have attended in previous years shared their positive experience of the day.  The PPC is to find out more information about facilitation training opportunities new faith based courses which are being planned over the next few months.  Members heard of the need for additional people to train or participate in a number of different ministries such as Children’s Liturgy/Ministers of the Word at Saturday masses/Altar Servers.  The PPC is to examine with a view to updating its statutes on issues such as terms of membership and the parish assembly.  However any such changes would require approval and endorsement by the Bishop.  Initial planning got underway for the annual PPC’s retreat at Dromantine in October.

Date of Next Meeting:  Tuesday 5 November 2019.

PPC Meeting

A meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council was held on 5th February.  Topics discussed included improving communication between the council and parishioners, refreshed content for the parish website  and  the identification of a possible short faith development programme to run in the parish during Lent.  Members also heard about the latest group of young people  taking part in the John Paul II Award. There was a report from the latest Pastoral Forum meeting where there had been an initial discussion of the difficulties faced by clergy when it comes to providing the current level of services with little or no cover in times of sickness, emergencies or holidays.

PPC Meeting – Tuesday 15 January 2019

The PPC met, prayed, and discussed the promotion of the faith among young people involved in the GIFT programme and John Paul II participants.  Members reflected and reviewed and discussed the vision, role and goals of the Parish Pastoral Council and how to ensure members are visible and listening to the needs and suggestions of parishioners.

PPC Meeting – 6th November 2018

The meeting began with prayer and reflection led by Michael McAllister.  Mary Devlin (Chairperson) welcomed Fr Peter to the Parish, who expressed his happiness to be in St Anne’s.  We reflected on our Retreat at Dromantine which enabled Fr. Peter and the members of the PPC to get to know each other and express our thoughts and ideas for the Parish in the future. We will prioritise the PPC being more visible in order to encourage better two-way communication (e.g. revamp the parish website, provide more opportunities for parishioners to make suggestions/comments on issues which affect them, etc.).  We discussed the plans for Fr Feargal’s presentation on 29th November.

The next PPC meeting will take place on 4th December.

UPDATE – PPC MEETING (25/09/2018)

Mary Devlin, Chairperson, welcomed us to the first PPC meeting after Summer. The opening/closing prayers and Scripture reflection were led by Sean Jordan. We looked at the roles of the members of the PPC and it was agreed that greater use should be made of the Parish Website to advise parishioners of what the PPC is doing.  We examined a document from the Living Church Office and are currently considering possible priorities for the parish.  Angelina Fusco reported on the latest Pastoral Community Meeting.  They are very enthusiastic and it is hoped that Officers will be appointed at their next meeting.  We are looking forward to the Ordination of Pat McNeill as Deacon and wish Pat, Mary and family our best wishes.  The PPC will be meeting in Dromantine for our annual retreat.  Please keep us in your prayers.
